Get ready for a magical trip to Far Far Away as Todrick Hall, the globally renowned singer-songwriter, actor, and choreographer, joins the London cast of Shrek the Musical at the iconic Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith this summer. From 19 July to 31 August 2024, Todrick will take on the role of Donkey in this hit musical, live on stage for six weeks only.

Joining Todrick are the previously announced cast members: Antony Lawrence as Shrek, Joanne Clifton as Princess Fiona, James Gillan as Lord Farquaad, and Cherece Richards as the Dragon. Producers Mark Goucher, Matthew Gale, and Gavin Kalin are thrilled to welcome Todrick Hall to the London cast of Shrek the Musical, following a major UK Tour.

Best known for his time on RuPaul’s Drag Race, as well as being a prolific singer-songwriter and choreographer with over 900 million views on YouTube, Todrick Hall is all set to bring the beloved character of Donkey to life on stage, painting London green in this vibrant and captivating musical based on the original Oscar-winning film.

No stranger to the stage, Todrick made his Broadway debut in The Color Purple and has an impressive list of roles in various productions such as Memphis, Kinky Boots, Waitress, and Chicago. He has also worked with big names like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Ariana Grande, and has appeared on numerous television shows, including The Masked Singer, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Dear White People, and The Greatest Dancer.

The fairytale world of Shrek has been reimagined by a new creative team and features all the classic characters from the Oscar-winning DreamWorks animated film, accompanied by the iconic songs and story from David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori’s original musical. The creative team includes acclaimed director and choreographer Nick Winston, co-director Sam Holmes, set and costume designer Philip Witcomb, and further talented individuals contributing to the production’s success.

Having celebrated its 20th anniversary, the Oscar-winning DreamWorks animated film Shrek continues to captivate audiences. Shrek the Musical, first performed on Broadway in 2008, received 8 Tony nominations, and the award for Best Costume Design. The original West End production was nominated for 4 Olivier awards, including Best New Musical, at the 2012 Olivier awards. Nigel Harman received the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Lord Farquaad.
