When I sat down with Boomer Banks, Max Konnor, and Joey Mills for Ultimate Boys Trip on OUTflix, I knew I was in for more than just a reality show chat. This new docuseries, dropping April 28 2026, brings a fresh energy to queer reality TV, blending friendship, vulnerability, and Miami’s unmistakable heat. What struck me most was how much heart and honesty these three brought to the table, and how this season felt like a true turning point.
Not just another Miami trip
Joey kicked off our conversation by sharing what made this season stand out for him. “I love that we weren’t shooting in the winter. That was my number one. But of course, we switched to Miami and the sweltering heat in like July.” Boomer chimed in with a laugh, “Which is hilarious because I don’t get sunburned ever and I got sunburned. That was crazy.”
But beyond the weather, Joey revealed something deeper: “We knew it was going to be our last season. So we kind of allowed the curtain of like what is reality and what’s not reality to slip a little bit. So you could see a lot more of the real side and what is produced and what isn’t.” Boomer agreed, “I felt a lot less produced, even though, you know, it is scripted reality. And I was very excited because it’s been me, Joey, and Max. Like at the end of the day, we’re the original three. We’re the foundation.”
Navigating friendship and new dynamics
The arrival of the internet “it-boy” Drake Von brought fresh energy and, naturally, some tension. I asked how it felt balancing the new with the old. Boomer was clear: “It’s always going to be Joey and Max and me. Every time something happened, I knew that those two, like, that’s friendship though, right? Like regardless of whatever’s happening or what is said, they can call me a b*tch. They can call me out. But at the end of the day, they get to still be my friend.”
Joey added with a grin, “But Boomer has come to learn that anytime he sees me, he’s gonna get ate up a little bit.” Boomer laughed, “Yes, and Joey’s gonna get ate up just as much.”
Off-camera moments and iconic scenes
Reality TV thrives on drama, but these three assured me their off-camera lives were pretty drama-free. Joey said, “Most of the fights and stuff are like played up pretty hard.” Boomer teased, “Joey went out a few nights. I was in bed. I know Max was in bed.” Joey laughed, “When I went out, like, I went out the last night after we stopped filming. I was out, but I don’t think I really like went out and partied.”
As for iconic moments, Max recalled a hilarious lifeboat scene: “I thought I was helping him, but I think I was pushing him away.” Joey teased a confessional moment with Drake that “I don’t think it’s ever been done on TV before,” leaving us all eager to see what that entails.
Vulnerability and style
Joey reflected on his usual on-camera energy: “My vulnerability usually comes out in anger and curse words. There’s lots of that this season. Actually, this is probably the season where I’m the least angry, I will say. Yeah, I think I’ve sat back and relaxed a bit more this season.”
Fashion was also a highlight. Boomer was excited to share, “I gave a lot of fashion this season. I was very excited for everybody to see my looks.” Joey agreed, “I think this is also the best dressed we ever were during any season because we weren’t in like seven layers of coat.” Boomer added, “Miami, you get colors, you get prints, you get designers.”
Looking ahead and watching together
As the series drops, I asked about their watch party plans. Boomer shared, “We always end up coming together at least once to watch an episode. I am literally in the process of moving. So that’s not going to happen anytime soon. I’m moving tomorrow.” Joey joked, “Still in Manhattan, right?” Boomer laughed, “We’ll watch it inside of the U-Haul.”
